Washington Youth Tour Essay Contest

Two best student essays will win an all-expense paid trip to Washington, DC on June 7-14, 2007

They will be required to submit a 500 word essay on one of the following subjects:

(1) A lot of electric utilities have begun offering services other than electricity. What are some of these services and how does this benefit the customer?

(2) Within the past 10 years we have seen the deregulation of the telephone and gas industries. The electric industry will probably also be deregulated before you finish college. Discuss the effects it will have on you and our economy in the future.

(3) Georgia EMCs announced recently that they have begun offering "Green Power". What is Green Power and how will it affect us in the future?

Each essay will be judged on the basis of knowledge of the subject, originality, composition, neatness and grammar.

Every student that participates will receive a free Washington Youth Tour T-Shirt.

Deadline for the essays will be March 15. An EMC representative will pick them up at your school. Please notify Mary Ann Bell when they are ready.
